Everyone on this list is enthusiastically Heidi approved. They are all wonderful people who are kind to their animals, good stewards of their land, and their products are delicious! Each section contains a link where you can go to learn more and place an order.
Heidi's parents are bee keepers in Woodbury, MN. They sell two kinds of honey: Creamed and Raw. Both are absolutely delicious!
Creamed honey is a decadent, spreadable honey that has a very finely crystallized texture. Raw honey has been allowed to crystallize spontaneously. Each year the texture will be different as it depends on a number of factors that change every year.
Nettle Valley Farm raises happy hogs on lush, diverse pastures just outside of Spring Grove, MN. They are not raising pigs in 2024, but join their email list to get early order info for the following season.
Their pigs live the good life! The pigs have plenty of room to roam and play. They feast on diverse annual and perennial pastures. In addition to grazing, the pigs eat a Certified Organic field peas and barley ration. It's corn, soy and fishmeal free!
Jim and Ellen are passionate about regenerative agriculture and helping people experience food and farming in new ways.
They sell pasture-raised eggs, chickens, and turkeys. With frequent deliveries to the twin cities and various SE MN locations, the Gardners make accessing delicious, well-raised poultry products easy!
At Luna Valley Farm, Tom and Maren get a little excited about good food. They love sharing our food and farm with the community on pizza nights when they cook up some of the tastiest wood fired pizzas around, using ingredients that they’ve grown in their beautiful valley and source from other small farms.
In addition to delicious pizza, Tom and Maren raise wonderful 100% grass-fed beef. They sell individual cuts and beef shares.
At Capra Nera Creamery, Katie Bonow's cheeses are made from a single source of milk: the 30ish goats that comprise the milking herd at the farm in rural SE Minnesota.
The ladies - all of whom have names, such as Eleanor Roosevelt or Button - are fed a small amount of grain at milking time, but enjoy the lush green of pasture plants for much of their production season. Cheese is made frequently, with ultra fresh milk, in small, hand-crafted batches.
Ruffles and fragrance and flowers - Oh my! Big Woods Daylily Farm strives to have the newest daylilies born from a long line of amazing plant parents. They trade pollen, plants and seeds with growers from around the world to ensure the newest and the best blooms for you.
If you live in the area contact them for landscaping and nursery plants too!
